The Comenius partner meeting at SISA
18.–23. 10. 2008
The Comenius partner meeting at SISA Antwerpen reresented the culmination of the first period of the Comenius project. The Comenius projects at the Secondary School of Applied Art (SUPŠ) Uherské Hradiště has been run by Mrs. Zdenka Šáchová for several years. The topic of the present project aims at European citizenship and using of IT technologies. English lanuage is the main means of communication among partner schools.
The partner meeting at SISA was attended by teachers from a German school (Freiburg), teachers from an English school (Hockley) and teachers from a Czech school (Uherské Hradiště).SUPŠ was represented by Mrs. Karla Stránská (IT teacher) and Miss Klára Popelková (graphic teacher).
The meeting started by the opening night of the Comenius exhibition which was open for public. Each participating country and school showed their own country and its stereotypes by means of power point presentations and art works. SUPŠ Uherské Hradiště brought its students works. The art pieces were created at the graphic department of the school and students worked under supervision of Mr. František Petrák, an experienced teacher who has helped with Comenius projects since the beginning. The students made an animated cartoon showing our country and the region in a comic and ironic way confronting the past and the present. Mrs. Karla Stránská prepared an electronic presentation of our school making most of the pictures/photos made by our students.
Partner schools teachers were shown round SISA and the SISA headmaster explained the educational system in Belgium. A discussion about the school presentations followed. Partners also specified further possibilities of students workshops at each attended school and dates of the next partner meetings.
Mrs. Marina Struelens, the Comenius project coordinator, prepared a very interesting programme including sightseeing of the historic centre of Antwerpen, Brugge and Louvaine. The group was also received at the technical university, which deals with the latest technologies research. The five days´stay enabled all participants to create close contacts and get a deeper insight into the Belgian educational system.
